Director: Ridley Scott.
Sir Jean de Carrouges is a brave knight who fought for his people far from home for many months. Returning from the war, the warrior is horrified to learn that a longtime rival, Jacques Le Gris, who lives next door, raped his wife Marguerite. But putting the criminal in his place is not so easy: Le Gris has powerful allies who can turn the situation upside down. The locals do not believe Marguerite's words, demanding compelling evidence, of which there is none. Desperate, Carrouges goes to the king, demanding justice.
After listening to all the testimony, Charles VI comes to the conclusion that the issue can be resolved exclusively through a duel. Ahead of the two knights a bloody battle awaits, the winner of which is destined to emerge only one. And if Carrouges is defeated, according to the laws of the Middle Ages, Marguerite will be burned at the stake for false accusation.
