The main events of the film take place at the height of the Vietnam War 1966-67. Three good friends of Slavic origin go to the war in Vietnam, apparently they had little idea of ​​what awaits them and how cool this war will change their lives. The film is divided into three acts. The first describes the events before the war: a wedding at which they meet a Vietnam war veteran, hunting, a love triangle. The second part is the war itself, shortly after the start of the fighting all three friends are captured by the Viet Cong, who make them play "Russian roulette", by chance the friends are saved and escape from this hell. The third part puts all the points in this story, the action takes us from Vietnam to America and back to Vietnam.
The film won 5 Academy Awards, including Best Picture of the Year, and is listed on the National Film Register of the US Library of Congress. War. Useless, bloody and nothing else. The events in Vietnam radically changed the attitude towards the life of the three guys. Someone was completely mentally or physically lost for their relatives, but someone, on the contrary, benefited: the hero of de Niro became more emotional and responsible for his loved ones. Apparently deeply in his soul blaming himself for the fate of his friends ... And if before the war Michael could easily shoot a deer, now he began to involuntarily appreciate the life of any creature.
