Our colorful inseparable heroes - Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger - having rested over the summer, return to Hogwarts with new forces. The educational institution meets them with an unusual surprise - it turns out there will be a competition, in which the best students of the three schools specializing in magic will participate. This grand event is pompously announced by Albus Dumbledore himself, gathering everyone in the impressive main hall. According to a long-standing unbreakable tradition, the Goblet up of Fire will be chosen by contestants. The ceremony begins and a rarity gives out papers with names. Victor Krumm is elected from Durmstrang, Fleur Delacour is elected from Sherbaton, and Cedric Diggory falls to defend the interests of Hogwarts.
However, something inexplicable happens next - a fourth piece of paper flies from the depths of the Goblet, on which the name of Harry Potter is marked. Those present are in shock - because, according to the conditions, there must be no more than three applicants for victory - their age must be at least seventeen years old. Since Harry does not fall under these criteria, a fierce argument flares up between the teachers - is it worth changing centuries-old traditions? Dumbledore ends the quarrel, decisively deciding to make an exception for Potter.
