Director: James DeMonaco.
The film takes place in the near future and tells about the politics of the United States, which established a new totalitarian police regime in the country. Unemployment in the United States has dropped dramatically. People who make up only one percent of the country's population are now carefree. The economy is booming, as are business, sports and industrial industries. Everything is perfect. But once a year, on the so-called Doomsday night, the government repeals all laws, regulations and rules, allowing the country's population to do whatever they want. Murder, rape, robbery - all this becomes absolutely legal and normal from 19:00 on March 21st until 07:00 the next day.
The government explains the meaning of Doomsday as a way to reduce the crime rate the rest of the time. After all, it’s better to kill many innocents in one night than to constantly stop crimes and put thousands of people behind bars every year. And the population of the United States, usually and living peacefully at ordinary times, seems to go crazy on Doomsday, as if they are waiting for this event all year. All the weak, defenseless and helpless are killed, leaving mountains of corpses in the streets, in ditches and alleys, and the government and the police do not care.
